The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t do much on Day 1 of the new league year, but they are still searching to add talent to their roster.

The Pittsburgh Steelers were very quiet on the first day of the new NFL league year, but that doesn’t mean they are going to just sit back and watch for the remainder of the offseason.

In fact, there have been reports the Steelers are interested in a pair of defenders who could help a defense in need of experience and versatility.

First, the team and former New England Patriots cornerback Logan Ryan reportedly have mutual interest in one another.

The one thing to keep in mind as fans might get excited regarding some of these free agent rumors would be how much they are expected to cost. There were some ridiculous contracts Thursday, and it only inflates the price of other free agents looking for a big pay day. The fact of the matter is the Steelers simply can’t afford most of these players, but the fact there is interest is worth noting.

Other than Ryan, the Steelers have reached out to Brandon Flowers team to gauge interest for the former Chargers defensive back.

Say what you want about the Steelers, but they are doing what they always do. They put out feelers with several players, see if they fit their pay scale, and make an educated decision on which players will be the best fit for the team.

As for these two prospects, they would both be welcome sights for the black and gold in 2017, and could make their defense even more complete as they attempt to take the next step of their journey and compete in Super Bowl 52.

At this point, these are only rumors, and the Steelers showing interest in a free agent, something I’m sure they have done plenty of the past few months, but with the free agency period officially underway it will be worth watching how the Steelers respond.
