The Pittsburgh Steelers were given a roster exemption when Marcus Gilbert returned from his 4-game suspension this week, but eventually the team would have to release a player to make room for Gilbert on the active roster.

On Saturday, the Steelers did the unthinkable, and released James Harrison to make room for Gilbert.

The move is shocking for fans, considering he is a fan favorite, and the franchise sack leader, but Harrison’s impact on the team in 2017 has been small.

The Steelers could still neing Harrison back, if he hasn’t been signed by another team, but as of now Harrison is officially on the waiver wire.
