Steelers Injury Report: JuJu Smith-Schuster’s concussion the lone injury after victory

The dynamic rookie WR left the game with a concussion, leaving his availability moving forward this preseason in question.

Fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers knew the big-name players wouldn’t be dressing for the team’s first preseason game against the New York Giants.

No Le’Veon Bell, Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Martavis Bryant or even James Conner.

Most, like myself, were extremely excited to see second-round pick JuJu Smith-Schuster take to the field for the first time in his No. 19 black and gold uniform.

Smith-Schuster had a nice catch in the first quarter, with his patented stiff-arm to boot, only to leave the game with a concussion later in the first half.

Smith-Schuster was concussed while trying to tackle the ball carrier after a Joshua Dobbs interception.

Nonetheless, Mike Tomlin stated his injury was the only of note after the game, and he will be evaluated in the coming days. The hope is Smith-Schuster recovers quickly, and safely, from his concussion and is able to return to the team before the regular season.

The Steelers host the NFC Champion Atlanta Falcons next week at Heinz Field in Week 2 preseason play.
