For Steelers WR Martavis Bryant, Sunday can’t come soon enough

Martavis Bryant has waited since 2015 to get back on the field, and Sunday will be the first day he can return to the gridiron with his teammates.

Pittsburgh Steelers fans remember the fumble in the 2015 AFC Divisional round of the playoffs which ultimately lost them the game against the Denver Broncos. What is crazy about this date, is how it was the last time Martavis Bryant was on a football team as a member of the team.

After a year-long suspension in 2016, and watching the early portions of training camp due to his “conditional reinstatement”, Bryant is finally ready, and able, to get back on the field this Sunday at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, and it can’t come soon enough.

“It’s a great feeling, you know, it’s been a long time coming. I’ve been working hard, and I’m just glad the process is almost over.” Bryant told the media following the Steelers 20-12 preseason victory over the New York Giants.

“I’ll be practicing Sunday.”

At this point, it seems Bryant is equally excited to get back on the field as Steelers fans are excited to watch him play again. However, it doesn’t make the last year or so any easier on the man they call “The Alien”.

“I had no control over what was going on, so all I had to do was worry about myself and make sure I was handling my business so when (the time) came, I was ready to go.

“I just have to worry about what I'm doing, take care of my business, continue to be on the path that I'm on now, and I'll be fine,” Bryant said.

That path will lead him directly to the loaded lineup the Steelers will throw on the field in Week 1 when they travel to play the Cleveland Browns. Ben Roethlisberger, Antonio Brown, Le’Veon Bell and Bryant all behind a tremendous offensive line will make up one of the most dynamic offenses in the NFL, but Bryant knows he is a long way away from where he was prior to his suspension.

“I've got practice to do, and I've got more work to put in,” Bryant said. “As long as I put the work in, when my time comes, I'll take advantage of my opportunities.”

As for just going through warm ups at Metlife Stadium in East Rutherford, NJ Friday night?

“It felt great to be back in the stadium.”

Steelers Nation awaits Bryant’s return with eager anticipation.
