Steelers continue to sign their own by keeping Jordan Berry for at least another year

The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed one of their own by giving Jordan Berry a one-year contract extension.

Baltimore Ravens v Pittsburgh Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been busy this offseason signing their own free agents. No, the team hasn’t come to a deal with Le’Veon Bell, their high profile free agent, but they have signed many of their own Restricted Free Agents (RFA) and Exclusive Rights Free Agents (ERFA).

They continued this practice by signing punter Jordan Berry to a one-year extension Thursday.

Berry is coming off a season where he took a step backwards, compared to 2016. While the team will guarantee Berry is in training camp with the Steelers, the team very well could bring in another punter, or two, to compete with Berry leading up to the 2018 season.

However, Berry and kicker Chris Boswell certainly have a good rapport, as Boswell has Berry to thank for a lot of his success, and Pro Bowl bid, throughout his time in the NFL as his holder. Nonetheless, the Steelers could be banking on Berry bouncing back next season by helping to flip the field, and pinning opponents deep in their own territory.
