Steelers 2018 Free Agent Market Watch: The Offensive Line

Whether it’s a position of great need or one that can use more depth, BTSC continues to take a look at available free agents. This time around it’s the Offensive Line.

Offensive line was definitely one of the strongest units for the Steelers last season, featuring three Pro Bowlers in David DeCastro, Maurkice Pouncey and Alejandro Villanueva. Ramon Foster and Marcus Gilbert, while solid, missed time with injuries and injuries/PED suspension respectively. With a super reserve in Chris Hubbard entering free agency, the Steelers have to make decisions with "the Munch Bunch". Here are the top Free Agent opportunities, and whether or not they would be a possibility for the Steelers.

OT Ja'Wuan James - Miami Dolphins

James finally started to gel in 2017 before landing on IR due to an injured groin. A solid pass protector, James could see a big payday.

OT Nate Solder - New England Patriots

Solder is 30 and he has been dealing with injuries and a slight decline in play. But the Pats’ LT has protected Tom Brady's blind-side for years and has done it well. It would be great to see him out of New England, but it won't be Pittsburgh that uproots Solder.

OT/OG Chris Hubbard - Pittsburgh Steelers

I think the Steelers make a play to retain the 26-year-old utility man on the offensive line. If they do, it could be at the expense of Ramon Foster. Hubbard filled in for Foster in a number of games last season. He deserves a chance to start and Pittsburgh may start the transition now.

OG Andrew Norwell - Carolina Panthers

One of the NFL's finest at his position, Norwell will be heavily sought after in free agency. The OG has ascended ever-higher since coming into the league and is now dominant.

OT/OG Justin Pugh - New York Giants

Pugh had to fill in at Tackle last year and he struggled, but at Guard he’s one of the better players in the league.

Other Notable Offensive Linemen

Cameron Fleming - New England Patriots

Ty Nsekhe (RFA) - Washington Redskins

Jack Mewhort - Indianapolis Colts

G/C Matt Slauson - Los Angeles Chargers

C Matt Paradis (RFA) - Denver Broncos

C John Sullivan - Los Angeles Rams

C Weston Richburg- New York Giants
