Report: Steelers to bring back RB Fitzgerald Toussaint on one-year deal

The Pittsburgh Steelers continue to sign their own players.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are known for keeping their own and keeping a low profile during the early stages of NFL Free Agency. This year has been no different, and the team continues to keep their own through Restricted Free Agent tenders, and now by signing some of their own Unrestricted Free Agents.

After watching Chris Hubbard cash in with the Cleveland Browns, the Steelers are reportedly going to re-sign running back Fitzgerald Toussaint to a one-year deal, per ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

Toussaint had a rough 2017 with the Steelers. After training camp he was cut by the team, only to be re-signed to the practice squad. He watched Terrell Watson play over him, but midway through the season was promoted to the active roster and was a kickoff returner for the last portion of the regular season.

While he might be most known for his critical fumble against the Denver Broncos in the Divisional round in 2015, Toussaint has valuable experience to help round out the team’s running back depth chart. Then again, there is no guarantee Toussaint will make the team next season.

Here is the Steelers’ RB Depth Chart heading into next season:

Le’Veon Bell
James Conner
Fitzgerald Toussaint

There is good chance the team will be making some moves at this position before the dust settles on this offseason. Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest on this and other black-and-gold news.
