Why we need to trade Bell

The next couple weeks could give a new look to our roster. The first move that we should be seriously looking at is Patrick Peterson. He isn’t just a rental player. His cap hit isn’t enormous. Because of that and because we have shown no ability to draft a CB I believe he is worth a first round pick in a trade. Hopefully we could get him for a second rounder but would be ok if it cost us a first. He would be that extra piece to get us over the hump. So let’s assume that we make that trade. What’s next?

We need to trade Le’Veon. Here is my case as for why. When he does report he’s not going to be in game shape. He will be used sparingly early on until he’s up to game speed. Yes we can line him up all over the field and keep Conner in the backfield. Yes this could create matchup problems. However it isn’t just him being in game shape. It’s about him having the timing with Ben as well as the offensive line. His style is so different from Conners that the line would have to adjust. Let’s not mess with what we have got going right now. It would also be in Leveons best interest for him to be traded. Imagine he comes in and he puts up pedestrian numbers after Conner has been looking all world. He can’t afford for that to happen. If Philly wants him and we could get a third round pick for him and possibly a second rounder then we should do it. This will help us with regaining a little draft capital. It will help us with the cap. Most importantly it will keep the team chemistry as it currently is.

Wouldn’t it be sweet if this holdout we’ve been so upset about turns out to be a blessing. Because of this holdout we have the cap space to acquire Peterson. Because of this holdout we’ve seen Conner is more than just serviceable. Because of this holdout the team has adjusted to Conners running style. Because of this holdout our team could be better for years to come. Thank you LeVeon.
