While the Pittsburgh Steelers continue to improve each week, the same cannot be said for the weekly BTSC staff picks. Although Jeff Hartman was an impressive 10-4 versus the totals in Week 6, he was a disappointing 6-8 against the spread. To make matters worse, I offered you few pointers going 7-7 ATS and 6-8 versus the totals. At this point in time, fading our picks might be the wisest course of action.
All of the spreads in excess of a touchdown covered last Sunday, while the final totals were well above the predicted lines in a number of games. Four game saw more than 60 combined points and one even broke the 80-point mark. Perhaps having learned their lesson, the bookmakers have only priced up two games with a spread over a touchdown in Week 7 and it would be fair to say that both of the underdogs in those games look like value bets this week.
The Cincinnati Bengals face a tough road trip to the Kansas City Chiefs (-6) on Sunday and a loss for both them and the Baltimore Ravens (-2.5) hosting the New Orleans Saints could push Pittsburgh to the top of the standings in the division. The Steelers are the only AFC North team off this week, with the Cleveland Browns (+3.5) set to play the Buccaneers in Tampa Bay
