In the immediate aftermath of the games on Sunday, it is standard procedure for the bookmakers to offer their opening lines for the following week’s action. However, as of Tuesday morning, there is just one sportsbook in Las Vegas willing to price up the Pittsburgh Steelers matchup with the New England Patriots.
With the status of Ben Roethlisberger and James Conner still uncertain for Week 15, Caesars Palace are the only bookmaker currently offering a line for the game after they made the Patriots 1-point favorites. While that spread would reach 4-points within a few hours, it has settled at 3-points at the time of writing. An initial totals position of 49-points has since been replaced by a line of 49.5-points, but there is still no outright price available.
Those inexplicably interested in backing the Steelers are strongly advised to wait for the updated injury reports on Wednesday before considering any wagers. Although Big Ben is expected to be under center, it would not be a surprise if Conner could not play and the line is sure to widen as the week progresses.
Pittsburgh have lost their last five in a row against New England and seven of their last nine under Mike Tomlin. If the Steelers were playing well, this would be a challenging matchup. Given their recent form, it could be a nightmare.
