Steelers vs. Patriots, Week 15: Knee-jerk reactions to the Steelers’ epic 17-10 win over the Patriots

One BTSC writer shares his real-time, initial thoughts of the Steelers win over a hated foe.

The loss to the Oakland Raiders should have killed the Steelers last week. It didn’t quite put the nail in the coffin. A loss today with the Baltimore win earlier pretty much would. Join me and my chewed-off fingernails as I react to another crucial battle with the team they struggle to solve.

Nonetheless, a simple reminder, a knee jerk reaction is an immediate and unthinking, emotional reaction. It’s basically shooting first and apologizing later. I can safely say that’s a true definition of your’s truly and a good lot of Steeler Nation. Here’s my real-time reactions during the Steelers’ most recent battle.

Quarter 1

  • The Color Rush has me believing. That might be false hope though.
  • Antonio Brown looks like he’s fired up.
  • Eli could add a nice wrinkle. Welcome back.
  • Samuels looked like a third-down back last week. Looks like a feature back early on.

  • 0n this drive, got to score seven...and I mean SEVEN!
  • Vanimal is clutch. Ben was there too on third down.
  • Bad coaching. Confused on that twelve-man penalty.
  • Can never stop Hogan. Riduculous!

  • That was laughable. Butler can not be the DC anymore.
  • You think Jesse James isn’t fired up for this one.
  • Guys like Kyle Van Noy are why I respect New England. They didn’t draft him. I hate the sack though.
  • Another sack? Yoi!
  • Brady is going to tear them apart.
  • Too much time to give TB. Have to pressure this guy.
  • Drops are helping the Steelers. But not going to get away with that much longer.
  • Ben is dialed-in to JuJu.

Quarter 2

  • First promo for the Survivor finale. I’ll be there live.
  • Washington had a nice snag. I think he’s emerging.
  • I admit that I downplayed the return of Eli Rogers. His presence is really valuable so far.
  • Beautiful pitch-and-catch from Ben to AB. That’s Antonio’s 13th. Ties his season best.

  • Michel is running wild.
  • Thank Heavens that that run came back.
  • Glad to see pressure.
  • Huge stop.
  • Why are they challenging this?
  • Love that run by Ridley against his old mates.
  • DeCastro is a stud.
  • Plus, I’m loving Jaylen.
  • Big Ben saved the sack. But he scares me when he does that.
  • There’s the pick that we knew we were going to see. Crap!
  • They really needed to complete that drive with points.
  • But huge three-and-out. Watt was coming.
  • Awful punt.
  • Gronk usually breaks out in the second half against Pittsburgh. Don’t get comfy.
  • Big third-and-five.
  • That’s a stop they really needed and didn’t get.
  • I think Patterson is short here.
  • Don’t let them snap it.
  • Poor clock management.

Quarter 3

  • This opening series scares me.
  • Another crucial drop.
  • Gotta make them pay.
  • James Washington! That was simply gorgeous. I’d say his confidence is back.
  • No. 13 again. Better late than ever.
  • AB is more Hines than you would think.
  • Gotta get seven out of this.
  • This spot scares me with Ben.
  • That was the right call. Definitely Intentional Grounding.
  • He was out. But also held.
  • Ughhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!
  • They had no intention of replacing Boswell and it burned them.
  • That’s on Tomlin.
  • This could be the turning point in this ball game.
  • Huge sack by T.J. Watt.
  • Unnecessary PI by Haden.
  • Brady going to make Steelers pay here.

  • Defenders dropping like flies.
  • Giant stop. I bet they still go for it here though.
  • Glad I’m wrong.
  • At least there’s a real kicker in the game. No doubt.

Quarter 4

  • They desperately need to answer with a touchdown here.
  • Samuels with the century mark. He and the offensive line are both creating.
  • Necessary third down to convert.
  • What the hell? Oh...the richochet.
  • You can’t throw into traffic....Ben!
  • Edelman all alone.
  • Wouldn't have been a good challenge.
  • Hilton coming up big.
  • Gotta do it again.
  • You gotta be kidding me. Edmunds was just hanging out.
  • Let’s get a hold there.
  • Now stop them.
  • Sniffed that out. Do it again.
  • Yessssssssss!!!!! Just made all four digs start freaking out.
  • Now run the ball.
  • Actually, play your game. Just move the chains.
  • Got to feed the Vanimal. Nice!
  • They can’t get too conservative.
  • Dont like going long here.
  • Gilmore did get away with one.
  • Please convert and put them away.
  • Patient Ben and great job by Samuels.
  • What a run by Samuels. Hold on defense....huge.
  • Have to protect the ball and the lead.
  • Coffee is for closers. Close this out.
  • This is four-down territory.
  • JuJu.....Oh man. What a great play by the Pats defense.
  • Go for it,
  • Boz...this us the kick of your career.
  • Wow!!!!
  • 150 seconds. Stop him.
  • That false start means nothing.
  • Really?
  • Now that’s a big penalty.
  • Oh my!
  • Fourth down. One more. Please!!
  • Yessssssssssss!!!!!!!!!!
  • What a win!
