The Pittsburgh Steelers face another crucial matchup against an even tougher opponent on Sunday in their quest to keep their playoff dreams alive, and few have been as hard to beat as the New Orleans Saints in 2018.
Boasting an 12-2 record, while the Saints have destroyed several of the teams they have met this season, wins have become more of a struggle as of late since they lost only their second game of the year to the Dallas Cowboys in Week 13. While New Orleans are far from unbeatable, they will be an especially difficult matchup for the Steelers on the road if both James Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster are sidelined for the game with injuries.
Possessing the No. 1 run defense in the league, it would have been hard enough to move the ball on the ground against the Saints even with Conner in the lineup and Pittsburgh’s best chances of a victory will depend on the arm of Ben Roethlisberger against the NFL’s 28th ranked pass defense in terms of yards given up. Keeping Drew Brees and the New Orleans offense out of the endzone is a whole different nightmare and the contest could very easily end up being a shootout on Sunday.
