Pittsburgh Steelers reunion with Martavis Bryant will have to wait

Any type of reunion with Martavis Bryant will have to wait after the receiver was put on Injured Reserve Wednesday.

Talk to any fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and just mention the name Martavis Bryant, and you will likely get a wide array of responses from the black-and-gold faithful.

Wasted talent.

Overrated.

Tremendous deep threat.

Whatever the response might be, when the Steelers decided to trade Bryant to the Oakland Raiders during the 2018 NFL Draft for a third round pick the Week 14 showdown between the two teams gained a little more significance to it.

There will be no reunion between the two parties, considering the Raiders placed Bryant on the Injured Reserve list Wednesday afternoon — ending his season.

Throughout the 2018 season, Bryant put up the following numbers for the Raiders:

Games Played: 8
Receptions: 19
Targets: 27
Yards: 266
Average: 14.0
Touchdowns: 0
Fumbles/Lost: 1/1

While Bryant’s first season out of Pittsburgh has been anything but smooth, most fans wish the young and talented receiver nothing but the best. However, what Bryant experienced was a season riddled with injury, and news of another potential suspension. In other words, a season to forget.

Nonetheless, his old teammates will be making the cross country trek to Oakland this weekend, and I’m sure they will have plenty to catch up on seeing their old teammate(s) for the first time in a long time.
