Entering the 2018 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers had a number of draft needs which they needed to address. Inside linebacker, safety, running back, wide receiver and even quarterback were positions of need to help the black and gold get to the next level in 2018. There have been numerous thoughts and debates regarding what the team will do with their Day 1 and 2 selections.

With the 28th overall draft pick the team added Terrell Edmunds, a safety from Virginia Tech, in the second round the Steelers added wide receiver James Washington, but there is more talent to be acquired. With their first pick in the third round, the team added the player who threw Washington passes, quarterback Mason Rudolph. Their final pick of the third round was offensive tackle Chukwuma Okorafor.

The Steelers have selected DT Joshua Frazier from Alabama with their seventh round pick of the draft.

The Pittsburgh Steelers showed a lot of interest in Frazier throughout the lead up to the draft, and spent a lot of time with him at the Alabama Pro Day to get a closer look at the Crimson Tide defensive tackle.

For those who don’t know much about Frazier as a prospect, you can check out what his NFL Draft Profile reads:

With Frazier’s size and strength, he likely would have found much more playing time in had he gone to Arkansas, but it’s unlikely that his pro prospects would have been much different. Frazier has the mass and anchor to appeal to teams looking for competition as a run-clogger, but his lack of initial quickness, tackle range and upper body twitch makes him a longshot to become a factor in the NFL.

This wraps up the Steelers’ 2018 NFL Draft, but the team will now rush to start adding some Undrafted Free Agents (UDFA). Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest on the black-and-gold, but first...
