Steelers sign another one of their own by giving Justin Hunter a one-year deal

The Steelers are filling out their roster by re-signing a lot of their own free agents.

Every year there are one or two players who stand out during training camp. Players who outperform the rest in one way or another. Sometimes it is with obvious heart and determination, while other times it is their skill and finesse which shines.

What fans slowly learn is success in training camp doesn’t always proceed to success in the regular season.

One of those players for the Pittsburgh Steelers last year was wide receiver Justin Hunter. Signed as a free agent, Hunter had an instant connection with Ben Roethlisberger, and caught almost everything thrown his way.

He made the team, but did little else throughout the season. Nonetheless, he must have done enough to get an invitation back — the team signed him to a one-year deal today.

Last year, Hunter caught only 4 passes for 28 yards and his lone touchdown coming against the Houston Texans in Week 16. With Eli Rogers’ health after tearing his ACL anything but certain, Hunter gives them another option at wide receiver heading into 2018.

Hunter joins the likes of Daniel McCullers, Fitzgerald Toussaint and Stevan Ridley who all signed one-year contracts as unrestricted free agents this offseason.
