In less than a week, the Pittsburgh Steelers make their annual trek back to Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA, to prepare for the upcoming season, so myself and Lance Williams, my co-host on the BTSC flagship podcast The Standard is the Standard, decided to get a little interactive.
We both thought of a few true or false statements surrounding the Pittsburgh Steelers and, while we plan on answering these ourselves, we also wanted to gauge the BTSC faithful on these points.
So, the statements are listed below. Vote in the poll below the statement and feel free to explain yourself in the comment section below!
1. Ben Roethlisberger still a Top 10 quarterback in the NFL.
Many believe Ben Roethlisberger isn’t a top-tier quarterback anymore, just ask David Carr. But are there really 10 NFL quarterbacks in today’s day and age better than No. 7? You tell us...
Poll
Ben Roethlisberger is still a Top 10 QB in the NFL
2. The Steelers will win another Super Bowl with Mike Tomlin at the helm.
While guessing the answers to some of these questions is a slam dunk, this statement will certainly be one where I have no idea what the outcome will be. Mike Tomlin has a stacked roster, again, but will he ever get back to the big dance and bring home another Lombardi?
Poll
The Steelers will win another Super Bowl under Mike Tomlin
3. Pittsburgh will trade Le’Veon Bell before the season.
This may not be realistic to many, but there’s still a chance the Steelers will get a ridiculous offer for No. 26, and you’d see a ‘sign and trade’ deal where Bell signs his franchise tag only to be traded shortly after.
Poll
Le’Veon Bell will be traded before the start of the 2018 regular season.
4. The Steelers’ defense will finish Top-10 in the NFL.
No, they never really addressed the ILB position in the absence of Ryan Shazier. Their OLB depth is thin and the secondary might actually be a strength. Anyways, will this defense finish as a Top-10 unit?
Poll
The Steelers’ defense will finish in the Top 10 in the NFL.
5. Randy Fichtner’s offense will come closer to 30 points-per-game than Todd Haley did while in Pittsburgh.
Todd Haley always talked about the offense’s 30 points-per-game goal they set for themselves every year, but the offense always fell extremely short of said goal. Will Randy Fichtner get the offense closer to this goal than Haley ever did?
Here are the numbers under Haley:
2012: 21.0 ppg
2013: 23.7 ppg
2014: 26.6 ppg
2015: 25.4 ppg
2016: 24.4 ppg
2017: 26.4 ppg
Poll
Randy Fichtner’s offense will get closer to 30ppg than Haley ever did.
There you have it! Let us know what you think, and be sure to check out the podcast to hear if you agree, or disagree, with our sentiments regarding these topics as the team prepares for training camp in less than a week!
