While fans might be left dealing with the disappointment of the 2018 season, the Pittsburgh Steelers still have plenty of work to do and on Monday that involved signing nine players to reserve/futures contract and re-signing one of their 27 impending free agent.
Zach Banner became the first of the Steelers free agents to sign a new contract this offseason after he took to Twitter to announce his new deal. Originally set to be an exclusive right free agent, it should be expected that Banner has signed a one-year deal for the league minimum.
I have been blessed to be a part of the @steelers Active 53 man roster for the entire season because of the Grace of God, and the work that I’ve been putting in the entire year of 2018. I’m pleased to say that I’ve signed with them again today for 2019.#Back2Work

He will be joined in training camp in 2019 by nine players who spent last season on the practice squad after CB Herb Waters, C Patrick Morris, DE Lavon Hooks, WR Trey Griffey, OG R.J. Prince, RB Ralph Webb, LB Keion Adams and WR Tevin Jones were all confirmed as reserve/futures signings by NFL.com on Monday, while NFL Trade rumors is also reporting that Christian Scotland-Williamson has signed a futures deal as well.
For those keeping count, that still leaves two players from the practice squad who have yet to re-sign with the team in linebacker Matthew Thomas and tight end Bucky Hodges.
It should be expected the Pittsburgh will officially confirm these signings in the coming days and quite likely announce a few more to go with them. The Steelers currently have 48 players under contract for 2019.
