Open letter to AB84 the Great!

Dear Antonio Brown,

I have been a fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers all of my life. I can't imagine that will ever change, the same can be said for my children. We love the players that wear the black and gold so our loyalty has to be with our team. Some of the so called "fans" that have been insulting and rude to you claiming we don't want or need you do not reflect the true Steelers fan base. The vast majority of us do not want to see you go. But we never want to see you so frustrated that you ever give up on a game, a play, or our team.

That being said, please find a way to work out the issues going on with you and the team/organization. When Mike Wallace and Emmanuel Sanders left the team I was happy that you were the one Steelers believed in to be our number one receiver. I knew you were the man for the job and you have never disappointed. You are one of my favorite Steelers of all-time and I have always thought the world of you. I have tremendous respect and appreciation for you.

I know you had to have reasons for why you've done whats been reported (if everything is accurate). And you obviously have taken issue with things being said about you in the press and social media. And I understand that. Especially with everything being so negative. I know you have said you are planning an interview and I must admit I wish you didn't. I know things have been one sided but unless its something that's going to be a positive for you, the team, and the Steelers fans, I'm not sure its a good idea and I for one am not looking forward to it. Most who are just want to see dirt, drama, and division and more than likely are not really fans. I personally am opposed to airing private things publicly. In fact as a man its something I have not and will never do. I come from a different era but for me that's a principle that transcends time.

Your record speaks for itself. You should not let these test and trials of life or individuals affect you to the point you are speaking ill and being insulting to others. You should not do or say things that are hurting and letting down those who have done nothing wrong to you, supported you, cheered for you, been good to you and done right by you. We all have to go through something and there must be dark times in life but you always control your own light. Our legacy is most defined by how we handle the hardest times.

I think you are so much better than some of what I have seen from you lately. Even though I know some things may need to be addressed and corrected, Its a more strategic and dignified way a man should respond to things. I have used examples of your determination and work ethic to inspire my own children. I want to now use your example of commitment to team and over coming these latest challenges to do the same. Do everything in your power to show how a true team sticks together through good and bad times. How teammates overcome their differences, solve their problems like a family and stay a force of one fighting to accomplish their goals. This is what many of the eyes on you hope to see. We want to see you at your best in all things. Remember this sport is driven by the children and they are watching.

We, your true fans know you are not solely responsible for all that has gone on. But we need someone to be the bigger man. I am asking this of you. It will not be forgotten by us. Your story is proof how strong you are and can be. Dig deep AB, find a way to make things right. We need you and want you to be apart of this team. We want you to retire in Pittsburgh as the greatest Wide Receiver in the NFL and Steelers history. With two Super Bowl rings and a gold jacket to match. I sincerely believe Coach Tomlin, Mr. Rooney, Ben, and your teammates feel the same way.

Pick up the phone and start working things out AB. Cut through all the noise and know that this is your city and Pittsburgh loves you. #AB84 #CallGod #CallArt #CallMike #CallBen #BusinessisBoomin #TonyToeTap #84theGreat!
