In the 2018 offseason, fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers started to sweat when news became known of other NFL organizations showing interest in offensive line coach, and Hall of Famer, Mike Munchak.

When the Arizona Cardinals wanted to bring Munchak back for a second interview, Pittsburgh fans feared the worst, but when Munchak told the Cardinals he wasn’t interested, and was happy to stay with the Steelers, the fan base exhaled.

A year later, Munchak is in high demand again, but this time he seems more interested in getting back into the coaching race than he was a year ago. According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Munchak is showing some serious interest in the Denver Broncos job. In fact, Schefter gives a reason why the offensive line coach might be extra interested in Denver.

Pittsburgh Steelers offensive line coach Mike Munchak has drawn interest as a head-coaching candidate this year. Munchak is said to have a strong interest in the Denver Broncos job, according to sources.

Munchak spent Friday with the Broncos and has both professional and personal ties to Denver. He and Broncos president of football operations John Elway have shared an agent. Additionally, Munchak’s daughter and her family all live in Denver. Those family ties and his general fondness for the area have made Munchak more open to an opportunity with the Broncos, sources said.

Will Munchak actually be offered the job? Only time will tell, but according to Schefter, Munchak isn’t the only available coach who the Broncos are interested in in pursuing.

Munchak would have a strong interest in the job if it were offered to him, however the Broncos are also interviewing New England Patriots defensive coordinator Brian Flores on Saturday and are scheduled to interview Chicago Bears defensive coordinator Vic Fangio on Monday.
