NFL Expert Picks, Week 6: The experts are all-in on the Chargers to beat the Steelers

The Pittsburgh Steelers are 1-4 and have a tough test ahead on Sunday Night Football. Are any experts picking the Steelers to win vs. the Chargers?

The Pittsburgh Steelers are a damaged team heading into Week 6. Possibly down to their third string quarterback and having to go across country isn’t the recipe for success most envisioned at the start of the season. Nonetheless, here we are with the Steelers preparing to play the Los Angeles Chargers in L.A. on Sunday Night Football.

The 2-3 Chargers are a shell of their former team, but mainly due to injuries. However, the big names remain in the lineup. Players like Philip Rivers, Austin Ekeler, Melvin Gordon, Melvin Ingram and Joey Bosa.

The 1-4 Steelers have injuries across the board, not just at the quarterback position. Jaylen Samuels is out with a knee injury, and it looks as if James Washington could miss some time with a shoulder injury. Players like Vance McDonald have been in and out of the lineup which can result in inconsistency within the offense.

Two banged up teams desperately needing a win in prime time, it is now when I take a look at who the experts are taking in this AFC grudge match.

Here at SB Nation, they don’t believe in the Steelers, and why would they, as the entire panel of experts who submit weekly picks is all-in on the Chargers to hold serve at home and send the Steelers to a dreadful 1-5 start.

The same can be said at ESPN. Their 10 person expert panel is all lightning bolts with no hypocycloids in site. Every ESPN expert is all-in on the Chargers.

Pete Prisco of CBS Sports thinks the game will be close, but doesn’t see either Devlin Hodges or Mason Rudolph, whoever the Steelers deem their starter, beating the Chargers on the road. See what he has to say about the game:

The Chargers have so many injuries that are showing up on Sundays. The Steelers will likely be playing third-team quarterback Devlin Hodges for Mason Rudolph. He came off the bench last week and did some good things, but starting is a different story. The Chargers will get all over him.

Pick: Chargers 21, Steelers 14

If you are looking for a pro-Steelers site, they aren’t easy to find. Nonetheless, there are a pair of experts at Sports Illustrated who like the Steelers to win on the road and head into their Week 7 bye riding a small wave of momentum.

But there are only a handful of sites across the internet. What about all the other sites who have experts pick winners and losers? That is where NFL Pick Watch comes in. NFL Pick Watch takes all expert picks across the internet and puts them into one easy-to-read graph for easy referencing. According to NFL Pick Watch, a whopping 99% of experts like the Chargers to win at home this Sunday in prime time.

The experts are clearly all-in on the Chargers to beat the Steelers. Will it happen? Only time will tell, but if the Steelers want to make something out of this season, a win in Week 6 is almost imperative.
