Super Bowl XLIII Steelers vs Cardinals

I've been a Steelers fan for my whole life now, but I've never seen the Steelers win a Super Bowl. Last night I watched Super Bowl XLIII when the Steelers and Cardinals met each other for the championship.

As I was watching the game Al Michaels was announcing how the Cardinals are very fourtane to making it to the Super Bowl. The Cardinals finished dead last in running the ball. However they finish fourth in total offense and that's because they finished second in passing. Although their defense was struggling throughout the season but got a little better in the postseason.

Now the Steelers on the other hand finished number one in defense and has the defensive player of the year James Harrison. Even though the Steelers have a great offense there offensive-line struggled a bit in the first half of the season, but has gotten a lot better since.

There is 13 minutes of the second quarter and Cardinals have only had the ball for five plays! That means the Steelers are just burning the clock like wood on a fire; just slowly and painfully. The Cardinals have the ball with 8:50 left to go in the second quarter when Kurt Warner comes up with a big pass play going for 45 yards bringing it down to the two yard line.

After the Cardinals score a touchdown making it 10-7 with the Steelers ahead. The Steelers got the ball back with little time before half. At the two minute warning Ben Roethlisberger threw a bullet to an intended receiver down field but a Cardinal's defender jumped up and deflected Big Ben's pass and intercepted it!

With 18 seconds to go in the first half the Cardinals are inside the five yard line about to take the lead to end the half. Warner drops back to pass looking at the slant all the way when Harrison is one of the best pass rushers in the league drops back and intercepts the ball taking it back all the way for a 100 yard pick six! Putting the Steelers up 17-7 going into halftime and making it the longest play in Super Bowl history!

It's the 4th quarter now with the Steelers still up 17-7. not much went on during the 3rd quarter of the game. Just a lot of back and forth. I honestly thought I was watching a ping pong match for a while.

Cardinals have the ball at the 50 with 10:00 left of the game. Then Warner comes up with a big pass play gaining 22 yards! And a few plays later the Cardinals score making it 20-14 with 7:33 left to go. And putting a scare on the Steelers and their fans.

After a few possessions the Steelers get the ball back at their own one yard line with 3:30 left. It's 3rd and 10 inside the five and the Steelers make a huge pass play to keep them going and getting them out of danger zone! But there was a flag on the play and they called holding in the end-zone which causes a safety giving the Cardinals two points.

The Cardinals get the ball after the safety with 2:53 left in the game. Two plays later Larry Fitzgerald scores a big 65 yard touchdown putting the Cardinals up 23-20 with 2:35 left! Steelers have the ball at the Cardinals 46 with 52 seconds left to play and Santonio Holmes comes up with a huge catch and gains 39 yards on the play! Two plays later with 42 seconds left Big Ben finds Holmes again for a big time sideline catch! Putting the Steelers back on top 27-23 with 35 seconds to go!

The Steelers end up getting a fumble causing them to win Super Bowl XLIII and becoming the first franchise winning six Super Bowl's!
