The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves in quite the predicament with backup outside linebacker Anthony Chickillo. After his arrest early Sunday morning for charges of assault, among others, towards his girlfriend, Steelers General Manager Kevin Colbert released a statement regardin the team’s stance on Chickillo.

The statement reads:
“In regard to the recent incident involving Anthony Chickillo, we will continue to gather information, and we will fully cooperate with the NFL’s investigation. Any discipline involving the player will be determined after the gathering of further information from law enforcement and the League Office.”
This statement, and stance, shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone who follows the NFL. The league has already stated they are looking into the situation which occurred on Saturday night, and the Steelers will likely wait to hear what the league, as well as local law enforcement, have to say before placing any distinction or releasing Chickillo.
For example, the NFL could place Chickillo on the Commissioner's Exempt List, meaning he wouldn’t be permitted with the team, but would continue to get paid until some sort of resolution of the conflict occurs.
