The Pittsburgh Steelers practiced again Friday with one more day of work coming before the official status report. According to the Steelers PR Department, all players participated in some capacity on Friday.
JuJu Smith-Schuster was the only player on the injury report who did not practice on Thursday due to illness, but was able to return on Friday. If Smith-Schuster carries any kind of designation for the game Monday it would be surprising.
A very pleasant surprise on Friday was T.J. Watt returning as a full participant in practice. While some expected Watt to need another day of limited action before the Steelers’ final practice on Saturday, the fact he could participate fully is a fantastic sign towards his availability on Monday. Even if Watt is able to go on Monday, Olasunkanmi Adeniyi still looks to get more time on defense as Anthony Chickillo was placed on the commissioners exempt list.
The only negative part of the Steelers injury report is Mark Barron went from a full participant on Thursday to limited on Friday. With Devin Bush improving with every game and Vince Williams showing he is the dominant force in the middle when it comes to stopping the run, it is unclear how the Steelers will handle all three players for the two inside linebacker positions.
Even with 11 players listed on the injury report, it would be surprising to see more than two or three with any kind of injury status in the report on Saturday.
