Steelers fan confidence increases, but a win Sunday vs. the Colts would be huge

The Pittsburgh Steelers fan base was happy with the win over the Dolphins, but a win over the Colts would be huge.

When you host a winless team, fall behind 14 points and then have to mount a furious comeback to win, it can shake your confidence a bit. That was the scenario for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and their fans, who watched them beat the Dolphins, but it wasn’t smooth sailing.

A win is a win, but when you host the Miami Dolphins fans wanted to see a blowout, not a nail-biter heading into the second half.

Either way, fan confidence in the black-and-gold has increased, ever slightly, from where it was during the by week.

The latest FanPulse results certainly paint a pretty accurate photo of how fans truly feel:

When it comes to the data, after the Week 8 win the confidence jumped to a 49% approval rating, this from a 41% approavel at the bye.

At this point I feel the confidence of the fan base will ebb and flow like the team they follow on a weekly basis. After all, the Steelers are a very young team. If you take away the offensive line, and Cam Heyward and Joe Haden on the defense, the Steelers are very young. With that youth comes inexperience, and with that inexperience some inconsistencies.

This might be the most frightening aspect of this 2019 Steelers team. They have a lot of potential on both sides of the football, but them being so inconsistent has left fans frustrated and lacking confidence in the overall group. What they will need to find is some level of consistency heading into Week 9 when the Indianapolis Colts come to Heinz Field. If they continue their inconsistent ways their two game winning streak will end, but if they can find consistency there is a chance they can pull off this upset over Indianapolis.

Let’s hope the Steelers find a way to advance to 4-4 after the completion of the second of three straight games at Heinz Field.
