The Pittsburgh Steelers practiced for the final time this week as they prepare for the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday. According to the Steelers PR Department, two players have been ruled out for Sunday.
Since being reported that Benny Snell Jr. had a surgical procedure on his knee, he has not practiced and is out on Sunday and most likely beyond. As for James Conner, he was not able to practice again on Friday. Officially listed as doubtful, the Steelers have not had a player with said designation be active on game day for at least several seasons. Jaylen Samuels looks to take the majority of the rushing duties should Conner be unavailable. The only other running back will be Trey Edmunds unless the Steelers make a roster move on Saturday. With two running backs on the practice squad, either Tony Brooks-James or newly-signed Darrin Hall could be promoted.
Ramon Foster is still in the concussion protocol and was unable to practice again on Friday and has been ruled out for Sunday. In his absence, B.J. Finney is set to start at left guard. While Finney is more than capable to fill in, the Steelers will be thin at the backup interior lineman position since they released Fred Johnson before their Week 6 game in Los Angeles. Should a substitue be needed, the Steelers would most likely have to slide Matt Feiler inside with Zach Banner at tackle. The only other offensive lineman available will be second-year player Chukwuma Okorafor.
New to the injury report on Friday was fullback Roosevelt Nix who just returned from a knee injury last week. He was a limited participant on Friday and is listed as questionable.
On a positive note, many players who began the week on the injury list do not even carry a designation for Sunday. Joining Jaylen Samuels in this category include Maurkice Pouncey, Daniel McCullers, and Ulysees Gilbert III.
As for the Colts injury report, it can be seen below courtesy of Steelers.com. Most notably, wide receiver T.Y. Hilton has been ruled out.
#Colts WR TY Hilton is out for this Sunday’s game against the #Steelers, with coach Frank Reich saying "With the information that we have, generally speaking, it's a 3-4 week (calf) injury."
