The Steelers have a tough task against the 2018 NFC representative in the Super Bowl at Heinz Field today. With the Steelers riding a three-game winning streak and the conference struggling, playoff possibilities are being imagined. With that being typed, will Jaylen Samuels get it going on the ground? Will the line open holes for him? Will Mason Rudolph throw a pick on the first series again ? Will JuJu Smith-Schuster play? Can the defense continue their dominance?
With these questions, story lines, and more, I’ve compiled a list of predictions (some basic, and some utterly idiotic) to look for in this pivotal contest:
- With James Conner inactive, Jaylen Samuels continues to struggle with the ground game. However, No. 38 catches twelve balls to make it 25 receptions in two weeks.
- JuJu Smith-Schuster scores a third-quarter TD and celebrates the score and the 63rd anniversary of the first direct-dial phone call by pulling out a rotary phone and attempting to call his dog. BTSC is reluctant to predict if Boujee answers.
- The Steelers keep Todd Gurley under 100 rushing yards for the game, but his second of two touchdowns breaks the back of the Steelers.
- With Brandin Cooks out for the game, the Steelers are tasked with stopping the tandem of Robert Woods and Cooper Kupp. The duo combines for 14 grabs and a score.
- Fan favorite Zach Banner lines up reports as eligible so much that he attempts to do so when the Rams have the ball as well.
- Having been listed as questionable on the injury list, Le’Veon Bell feels that the designation is enough reason to skip the Jets/Giants game and moped to Pittsburgh to perform his hip hop version of the theme from “Sesame Street” on the 50th anniversary of its’ PBS debut. The only people that notice are the confused telethoners and staff at WQED.
- Cam Sutton records another interception, while Bud Dupree gets a strip sack that leads to a score.
- The Steelers sack Jared Goff four times on the day.
- T.J. Watt...Two sacks.
- Mason Rudolph starts fast again, but stalls before making it into the end zone. With two TDs and two picks, fans start getting more frustrated with No. 2.
- The Steelers will put up a valiant fight, but the injuries prove too much to overcome.
Final: 30-27
Will any of this actually happen? I’ll bet at least one or two. Heck, maybe every one of them. Be sure to post your predictions — basic or bizarre — below.
