Steelers vs. Rams, Week 10: Knee-Jerk Reactions to the Steelers’ 17-12 win over the Rams

The Steelers are beat up, but at 4-4 have a chance to be over .500 for the first time in 2019. The Rams represent a real tough test and a win would really feel pivotal. Join me, won’t you, as we relive the game in real time.

Nonetheless, a simple reminder, a knee jerk reaction is an immediate and unthinking, emotional reaction. It’s basically shooting first and apologizing later. I can safely say that’s a true definition of your’s truly and a good lot of Steeler Nation. Here’s my real-time reactions during the Steelers’ quest for a record of .500 after starting off 1-4.

Quarter 1

• Like last week, looks like another gorgeous day to be at Heinz.
• The throwbacks look awesome. The 1979 team is in the house. Let’s go.
• Horrendous snap and a Rams touchdown just like that.
• 7-0 Rams.
• What’s wrong with Pouncey?
• Pouncey with the trip of Tony Brooks-James. Not a good start for No. 53.
• That looks like a backwards pass. They should challenge.
• A challenge win. Nice!
• Gurley hasn’t had a 100-yard game in nine contests. He’s running well already.
• Goff looks like he has the yips.
• Defense looks good.
• Johnson with a couple yards on the return. Is that a record for 2019?
• The offense looks stagnant.
• That third down pass to Johnson was pretty.
• I think DJ is going to be a star.
• These dumpoffs on third and long are not productive.
• Pinned them back with the punt. Berry is having a good year.
• Gurley is heating up. That can’t be good.
• Defense is fired up though.
• Vince Williams is a run-stopping demon. Nice.
• Forced a punt. The defense is keeping them in this.
• Free play!
• Ugly pass. Nice catch by JJSS.
• Gotta prove that you can move it here.
• DIontae Johnson can’t drop those. Help your quarterback.
• They can’t run.
• Good third down pickup for Rudolph to a redemptive DJ.
• Dammit Chuks!
• That INT can’t stand. DJ was held by Ramsey.
• That challenge flag is confusing.
• Now convert!
• Washington with a huge grab. He has fantastic hands.
• TD! JWash! 7-7.

• Heyward with a nice deflection.

Quarter 2

• Stop them on Third and 8.
• Heyward and Watt with the big sack.
• Scary dancing by DJ. Gotta clean that up.
• Vinny with the penalty. I didn’t see it.
• Fans love Banner.
• Samuels with a nice first down.
• Edmunds needs to just go forward. Bad choice.
• Another huge first down. Thought he would be short after the hesitation.
• Almost an interception. Bad decision.
• Vance saved the pick as a DB.
• Crap. Couldn’t scramble for the first.
• Who is offsides?
• On us.
• Almost a devestating punt block.
• It was deflected. But not in a bad way.
• Can’t let Goff heat up.
• Yeah. That’s a PI on Edmunds. Looked innocent at first, but no.
• Big stop. Gurley was wide open, but the heat from Watt and Dupree caused it,
• Gotta do something here.
• Thats a huge wad of gum in Danny Smith’s mouth. Yuck.
• Great YAC for JuJu. Huge.
• That’s a forward pass, not a fumble. Shovel.
• Good catch by Vance.
• Uggh! JSam can’t drop those.
• Aaron Donald helped that get rushed.
• Poor tackling. Don’t let them get points before the half.
• T.J. is amazing. Could have been a strip.

• Beautiful run after the catch by James Washington. But gotta hold on to it. That could be a killer.

• They are ball hawking.
• That was unfortunate. You can’t give a receiver that much room.

• Back in range. Zuerlein is good enough to get it.

Quarter 3

• Stopping them on the first possession would be huge.
• Huge tackle by Barron.
• 12 players didn’t help the Steelers on that third down.
• Yes! Joe Haden with a huge pick. Now take advantage.
• Like the effort by Brooks-James.

• What a crappy series by the offense.
• Man. That was amazing pressure and a great tackle.
• Blake Bortles. Great.
• Trey Edmunds with the huge pick on trickery.
• Trey has more interceptions than his brother.
• Didn’t think that was reviewable.
• Terrible penalty on Big Al.
• That’s a shame. Nice run by TBJ negated.
• What the hell was that? Vanimal with the run.
• Vanimal with a bad drop.
• Wow! Gurley with a big gain.
• The Rams are heating up.
• Huge hole again.
• Penalty on LA.
• Big third down.
• Really need to hold them here.
• And a huge stop by Minkah.
• FG. 14-10.
• End of three.

Quarter 4

• Good defense.
• That was a great catch by Woods. Gave up too much on third down.
• Don’t love being that deep back with Mason.
• This could be a pivotal drive.
• Safety. That was my concern.
• Why didn’t he hand that off?
• Haden is really balling out.
• Hargrave is having nice impact too.
• Nelson with an impressive sound tackle.
• Decent return by Diontae.
• That was a sweet catch by Washington.
• I can’t believe they went for that first down. I love that they moved the chains, but got lucky.
• Vance is scaring me.
• Washington is clutch again.
• They can not run.
• Okay, that was a good run by No. 38. Too bad he got tripped up.
• That Cowboy connection is heating up. Big conversion.
• Nice catch by the juje.
• Oh my. That was scary.
• Looked like a pass attempt.
• Lets’s go Boz.
• False start on the kicker? Okay.
• Big FG. 17-12.
• Lets go defense.
• Bad ST coverage. Ridiculous.
• They are going to get a bad penalty and blow this.
• Nelson with a huge stop on Everett.
• Heyward with a big bat.
• Edmunds with a huge play. That could have been interference.
• Three Rams timeouts. Can’t do anything stupid. But you gotta convert at least one.
• I agree with the play calling. The punt will need to be huge. Nothing dumb on defense.
