I'M PROUD OF MY STEELERS

For such a young team; and with all the injury setbacks, you fellas are showing TONS of mental toughness! I LOVE IT! I can’t remember the last time this team played STEELERS TOUGH on BOTH sides of the ball. I can't go there with our Special Teams- You are dead to me! P.S. Kickers are not part of my special teams rage! Our kickers are good players.

I’ve heard the key to success is:

1) Education

2) Have a Plan

3) Timing

4) A Little Luck

I’ll take the luck tonight! It’s about time things go our way! This injury bug will pass. Timing needs to improve with the passing and running games: Overall skill player route running & let's see more double moves on the outside, O-Line pre-snap recognition & communication and Quarterback-to-Receivers- You must use the MIDDLE of the field more.

Speaking of having a plan and education... What's up with the offensive play calling??? We’re half way through the season. It’s time to find the big boy pants!!! We need far more diversity with the offensive game plan. There are no excuses Fichtner!

Here are my take-a-ways:

1) Defense- I’m not excited yet. I’ve been waiting almost 10 years for this unit to come together. Though you are the closest I’ve seen during this miserable period, you must stop surrendering 3rd downs. You must stop the 6-8-minute gaps where you get your butts handed to you. I’m still ticked off about how you got gashed up the gut with the run during (I’m pretty sure it was the Chargers game). Keep doing what you’re doing; but you have to play smarter, more consistent football! Stick to the fundamentals like being in the right spot and TACKLING! In case you don’t know what the team concept of tackling is… it’s: 1st WRAP YOUR MAN 2nd KNOCK THE BALL OUT

2) Mason man! You are 2-3 games away from getting those deep throws to JuJu. What’s up with you and J Wash? You guys should be in sync by now. When you put 3-4 deep completions per game on tape, pressure will ease; and our aged O-line can lock down a little better.

Mason Bro! It’s 2.5 Mississippi!!!! The ball must be out of your hands by then! Throw it deep and OUT so only your guy has a chance at the ball; or check down; or throw it away. I love your stones in the pocket! Seriously dude! However, if you want to live through this season, you need to get quicker. I like your potential. You’re surprising me dude! Here are some tips:

1) Get the film guys to pull tape on every single in-pocket scramble Tom Brady and Joe Montana have EVER had. Get that tape and study it! Meditate on it! This is your homework when you are on your own time. Welcome to the NFL kid!

2) In the offseason you need to get a boxing trainer and hit the speed bag. You also need to take up tap dancing. Right now, you lack some muscle memory quickness. It’s your release more than your throwing motion, I think. Also, I believe your physical senses are leading your mind. That’s college! You need to trust your mind to lead your physical senses! This takes time Bro! You’re getting your job done and not hurting your team (I’m forgiving the safety tonight but that can’t happen again).

Here's to a much better 2nd half of the season. HERE WE GO STEELERS
