Every now and then there is a situation which truly makes you shake your head in bewilderment. The situation for Pittsburgh Steelers safety Kam Kelly early Friday morning where he was arrested after getting into a physical altercation with police is one of those moments.

While everything which happened and resulted in Kelly’s arrest is still somewhat unknown, the Steelers aren’t waiting around for the former AAF play to be proven innocent.

As of Friday afternoon the team cut ties with Kelly, and promoted Marcus Allen to the 53-man active roster.

Kelly, who made the team ahead of the drafted Allen, saw special teams snaps, and played occasionally in sub packages when the Steelers wanted to put three safeties on the field. Will Allen be able to do everything Kelly did, or will they turn to someone like Jordan Dangerfield to fill this role in the coming weeks?

In 2018, Allen was on the Steelers 53-man roster for the entire season but only appeared in two games. He had two tackles on 18 defensive snaps along with 12 snaps on special teams.

Regardless, this is the end of the road for Kelly in Pittsburgh. Now the Steelers turn their attention to preparing Allen for the upcoming Week 16 game on the road vs. the New York Jets.

Be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the black-and-gold as they head into a crucial Week 16 matchup at Metlife Stadium as they hope to remain in control of their playoff destiny by winning the last two weeks of the season.
