3 games to watch in Week 14 which could impact the Steelers’ playoff scenarios

There are several NFL games this week which will help shape the playoff picture for the Steelers

It’s something most Steeler fans did not think was possible after the first several games of the season. After losing Ben Roethlisberger for all of 2019 and starting to season 0-3, hopes of playoffs seemed ridiculous for the Steelers. But more than two months later, the Steelers are currently the sixth seed in the AFC and control their destiny as to whether or not they will qualify for the postseason.

With only four games remaining, the focus has turned from strictly opponents the Steelers still have to face to games which will be of interest to Steelers’ fans due to how they affect the AFC playoff hunt. First and foremost, the Steelers’ game is by far the most important for them to hold their current position. But several other games around the NFL can have some serious implications as to where teams are seeded before next week.

Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills

Sunday at 1:00 PM on CBS

As Steeler fans patiently wait for the 4:25 PM kick off time on Sunday, tuning in to see the Ravens travel to the Bills might be the best game to watch. Not only do the Steelers host the Bills the following week, one of these teams losing the game will benefit the Steelers in someway. Should the Ravens fall, they would need to drop another game to either the Jets or the Bengals in order for the Steelers to have a remote chance of claiming the AFC North. In a much more likely scenario, it would help if the Bills were to lose because if the Steelers can win both this week and against Buffalo in Week 15, they would find themselves moving up one position into the five seed.

Tennessee Titans at Oakland Raiders

Sunday 4:25 PM on CBS

This game is another no-brainer for its importance because the Steelers are currently tied in record with the Tennessee Titans. Unfortunately, it is kicking off the same time as the Steelers so I would not recommend turning in. With the Raiders only one game back for the wildcard, the most beneficial thing about this game is, barring a tie, one of them is guaranteed to lose. So either Tennessee can really put some distance on the Raiders, or Oakland can climb back in it and help the Steelers break the tie with the Titans.

Kansas City Chiefs at New England Patriots

Sunday at 4:25 PM on CBS

With yet another 4:25 PM kick off, the Kansas City Chiefs traveling to the New England Patriots has a lot of playoff implications. While neither team is guaranteed to win their division, the winner of this game will also have an edge on the other when it comes to the tiebreaker and a potential first-round bye. It is very possible the Steelers could face the loser of this game on wildcard weekend should the Steelers get to the postseason.

So there are the three other NFL matchups which can give Steelers’ fans a clearer picture as to what the Steelers will need to do to qualify for the 2019 postseason. While handling their own business is of the upmost importance, getting a little help along the way to make the Steelers path easier is always welcomed.

So which of these games on Sunday will be the most telling as it pertains to the 2019 Pittsburgh Steelers playoff scenarios moving forward? Make sure you vote in the poll and give your thoughts in the comments below.
