Devlin Hodges made his second career NFL start of the season against the fifth-ranked Cleveland Brown defense last Sunday. His first half was serviceable, tying the game up at 10 before the half. We all waited for that other shoe to drop in the second half and dash our playoff hopes. What happened instead? Hodges went 7-10 for 108 yards and one interception. A very important stat that sticks out is two scoring drives in five series which led to a 20-13 home victory.
How did Duck play in the second half? Roll the tape!
Hodges is the unquestionable starter, and was a big reason the Steelers beat the Browns. Nailing down three third-down conversations in six chances in the second half wins games. That is exactly what the Steelers did. This is just a different team under Hodges.
Is Hodges flawless? Nope. We all saw some egregious mistakes especially in the red-zone with the fumble. His mistakes were not too costly in the second half, but can he keep that up? Will he implode at some part and show why so many teams passed multiple times on him?
Only time will tell...
