The writing seems to be on the wall the Pittsburgh Steelers are going to do their best to get All-Pro wide receiver Antonio Brown a fresh start for the 2019 season. No, not with Pittsburgh, but somewhere else via trade.
Everyone reading this knows the news and timeline of Brown’s social media antics, as well as the Steelers’ response to him wanting out of the Steel City. But what isn’t always clear is how the vast Steelers fan base will handle his impending departure.
In other words, do you wish him well? Or do you wish him the worst?
To be completely honest, I have experienced both emotions when thinking about No. 84 playing for another NFL franchise next season. I feel a bit of gratitude to Brown for the work he has done in Pittsburgh, and the success he has brought the franchise — even if it didn’t result in a Super Bowl title.
On the other side of the coin I have felt a distinct angst towards Brown for not only his antics, forcing his way out of Pittsburgh, but also because he feels he can duplicate his success anywhere.
I have had visions of the organization sticking it to Brown and trading him to somewhere like the Buffalo Bills, Arizona Cardinals or New York Jets. Forcing Brown to play with a young, second year quarterback, and without much talent around him to give him the opportunities he had in Pittsburgh. I want him to sit back and think, “Maybe I shouldn’t have left Pittsburgh...”
If I’m honest with myself, I have felt much more of the latter than the former when it comes to my feelings towards Brown leaving. But I want to know what the BTSC community, and Steelers fan base thinks.
Do you wish him well? Or do you hope he flops when not in a black-and-gold uniform? Let us know by voting in the poll below, and be sure to explain your vote in the comment section below!
