The Pittsburgh Steelers announced two new additions on Friday with the signing of linebacker Robert Spillane and running back Malik Williams to reserve/futures contracts.

Spillane was signed by the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent in May and was released at the end of training camp, only to be re-signed to the practice squad a few days later. Promoted to the 53-man roster in October, he would play his first NFL game against the Baltimore Ravens in Week 6, but was again let go a few weeks later. The highlight of his career to date might be the interception he recorded against the Steelers in Week 3 of the preseason.
Arguably the career highlight of #Steelers new signing Robert Spillane @14rspillane. An undrafted linebacker out of Western Michigan who recorded this interception in Pittsburgh against Landry Jones in Week 3 of the preseason in 2018 @14rspillane pic.twitter.com/82pqDHUXLa

After a encouraging debut training camp with the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent, Williams was considered by some observers to be an outside candidate for a roster spot before a shoulder injury ended his season. His highlight in preseason coming against the Miami Dolphins.

Both should be considered long shots to make the Steelers roster in 2019, but could compete for a place on the practice squad.
