The Steelers have reportedly traded Marcus Gilbert for an additional draft pick.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are making moves as they try to get their salary cap situation in order prior to the start of the new league year next week. On Thursday they locked up two of their key offensive linemen, Maurkice Pouncey and Ramon Foster, but on Friday they said goodbye to another.

According to Adam Schefter, the Steelers have traded Marcus Gilbert to the Arizona Cardinals for a late 6th round draft pick.

The move doesn’t come as a shock to the Steelers’ faithful as Gilbert sent out this cryptic tweet early Friday morning, likely after the team told Gilbert they are actively trading him.

The Steelers now look at their right offensive tackle position with plenty of question marks surrounding it. Sure, Matt Feiler filled in admirably last season, but is he the every down replacement for Gilbert?

If Feiler isn’t the answer, do the Steelers have enough faith in second year player Chukwuma Okorafor or Jerald Hawkins?

Tough questions which need to be answered, but the Steelers will create some salary cap space with Gilbert now off their books. On top of that, as much talent and potential Gilbert possesses, you can’t overlook the fact he has watched more games the past two seasons than he has participated in, due to both injury and suspension.

Are the Steelers done making trades and/or moves? It is doubtful, so stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the black-and-gold.
