There are certain people in this world who refuse to let circumstances dictate their future. You see this with people who are born with deformities, lose limbs in accidents or are told they will never do something ever again.
How do they respond? They refuse to allow someone else to put any type of limitations on them, and prove the doubters wrong.
Ryan Shazier is one of those people.
After the former Pittsburgh Steelers first round draft pick was injured in Cincinnati on Monday Night Football in 2017, he was told there was a strong chance he would never walk again. But on the outside chance he could walk again, it would probably be assisted in some way.
What happened over the next six months was nothing short of amazing. After a few pictures and videos from hospital rooms, Shazier went dark. He didn’t post anything on social media, but just focused on his faith and his rehabilitation. Finally, there was the photo of Shazier standing, unassisted, next to Ben Roethlisberger.
From that point on, Shazier’s rehabilitation continued to sky rocket. He was seen at the team’s facility in a wheelchair, but took the world by storm when he walked onto the stage to announce the team’s first round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
Reports this year were Shazier was jogging, but there was no video to support these claims. On Sunday, Shazier took to his verified Instagram account and showed the world how far he has come by doing a 3-foot box jump.
We all #SHALIEVE.

Words can’t describe just how amazing Shazier, and his recovery, has been. To go from being unable to move his lower body to doing box jumps is absolutely astounding.
This isn’t the time to discuss whether or not Shazier could, or should, ever play football again. Instead, this is when Steelers Nation continues to support Shazier throughout his rehabilitation and wishes him nothing but the best in whatever comes next!
Continue to SHALIEVE!!
