There were some here at BTSC, self included, that felt it would be difficult to replace Antonio Brown and the production he provided year in year out for the Pittsburgh Steelers. That question still remains, but it appears as though it has softened as OTAs and Mandatory Minicamp has taken place.
Reports of James Washington losing weight and being in a better place physically and mentally have helped him gain the necessary confidence to play at the NFL level. Everything that has been read or heard in regards to Diontae Johnson have all been pretty positive. Throw in the veteran presence of Donte Moncief who appears to be rejuvenated now that he again is working with a competent quarterback.
Oh yeah, there’s JuJu Smith-Schuster who has taken on a much needed leadership role not only with his position group, but with in the team itself. Who also is welcoming the challenges of being the guy that draws the attention from the opposing defenses.
There is also one guy who pops up from time to time when I surf the web that hasn’t been mentioned much on here, his name, Diontae Spencer. Now, it may be his reported 4.27 speed that is gaining attention, but we haven’t heard much about Ryan Switzer and Eli Rogers throughout the early process. I’m not saying both of their jobs are in jeopardy, but it is possible they have competition, which is never a bad thing.
- With that said, have some of your fears about losing Antonio Brown, or his awesome production, been lessened, remain the same or have they increased?
- Is it still just football in shorts at this point? Or nothing can be answered until the pads go on in late July?
- Will Switzer and Rogers both make the 53-man roster?
