The Pittsburgh native posted on various social media platforms he is currently in the hospital recovering.

If there is one player who embodied not just what the Pittsburgh Steelers stand for, but the area, it would be Charlie Batch. Batch grew up in the Pittsburgh area, and after spending several years with the Steelers as a backup Batch has continued to help those in and around the Pittsburgh community.

Batch’s foundation has done everything from buy winter coats for children in need, and provide back-to-school supplies for those who otherwise don’t have the money to do so. He is a regular on the Steelers basketball team that travels around to various gyms to play other teams to raise money.

Recently, Batch spent time in Mexico with the Steelers as they continue to spread the game south of the United States, came back to Slippery Rock University for another camp and ended at a camp at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, PA.

What happened next was a hospital stay for Batch as he was admitted for both dehydration and an infection, Batch said it could be ecoli poisoning. Take a look at what he posted on his official Facebook page:

Batch is still a member of the Steelers organization, and holds the duties of being the analyst during the team’s preseason games. Batch is expected to make a full recovery, but reminds everyone sometimes you have to slow down, and always stay hydrated!

We here at BTSC wish Batch a speedy recovery, and can’t wait to see him not only at training camp this year, but on television broadcasting the black-and-gold preseason games!
