The Pittsburgh Steelers, or should I say Mike Tomlin, is a feature back kind of coach. They trust their skill players to make plays, and they don’t like taking their best players off the field.
Back in the days of Willie Parker, Tomlin spoke openly about the usage of his running backs and talked about running the wheels off of the feature back. This, clearly, is referring to giving the back so many carries they become fatigued, and often injury plagued.
While the talk this offseason has been all about ‘running back by committee’, there is no reason to think anything will change in 2019 with James Conner being ‘the guy’.
This is where the newest BTSC podcast “Yeah, I Said It” comes in. My co-host on ‘The Standard is the Standard’, Lance Williams, talks about some of the data backing up his claim that the Steelers will run the wheels of Conner, just like they did to Le’Veon Bell and Parker before him.
Lance is the perfect man for the job, and delivers the goods in the latest show.
