The first opportunity to see the Steelers in action with an alternative uniform in 2019 will be under the prime-time lights of Monday Night Football in Week 8 against the Miami Dolphins. Opting first for the color rush jerseys, the Steelers will once again wear the all-black uniforms when the majority of the game will be played after sundown. The Steelers will then don their throwback jerseys during their 4:25 P.M. match-up in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.
With the teams’ success in both sets of uniforms, many look forward to seeing the Steelers sport their alternative jerseys. With a record of 4-0 in the black uniforms with gold numbers, the Steelers’ color rush jerseys have been very popular with fans. Last season the Steelers produced a 52-21 victory in Week 10 over the Carolina Panthers along with the marquee 17-10 win over the New England Patriots in Week 15.
The 2018 season was the fist season with the current Steelers’ throwback jersey. A tribute to the 40-year anniversary of the 1978 Super Bowl Champions, the black jerseys with white block numbers are a stark contrast to the previous “bumble bee” uniforms. The Steelers were victorious in Week 8 of 2018 against the Cleveland Browns by a score of 33-18 in their most recent throwbacks.
