The Pittsburgh Steelers have a storied history which dates well beyond those Super Steelers of the 1970s. Throughout this time, many players have come and gone, and each player carries with it their own legacy.
There are some players who become fan favorites from the moment they step onto the field for the first time, and players who are all-time greats.
During this slow time of year, I felt it would be a fun exercise to ask who your all-time favorite Steelers player is/was. It could be anyone who ever wore the black-and-gold jersey. Current or retired doesn’t matter. Who was your all-time favorite?
Let us know in the comment section below, but for me, a 36 year old male, it is Ben Roethlisberger. I was alive for the 1990s ‘Blitzburgh’ teams, and loved Barry Foster and Rod Woodson growing up. But for whatever reason, when the Steelers drafted this kid our of Miami named Roethlisberger in 2004, I was absolutely enthralled with No. 7.
After he rattled off wins en route to the AFC Championship game, I was hooked.
I was, and still am, a huge Roethlisberger fan. Do I love, and stand by, everything he has done throughout his career? Absolutely not. But I’ve always loved the way he plays the game. The way he has a never-say-die approach to every time he drops back to pass. The way he has a knack for making the big play when it matters most. I love everything about how he plays the game.
He is the reason I own only one player’s jersey — No. 7.
So, who is your favorite player of all-time? Let us know, and explain why!
HERE WE GO STEELERS!
