The Pittsburgh Steelers made a heavy investment in their first round draft pick Devin Bush. Trading up 10 spots into the Top 10 to take the Michigan linebacker in the 2019 NFL Draft made fans’ expectations increase significantly.
Throughout the offseason fans had heard about Bush’s potential, his natural ability to track the ball carrier, his superior coverage skills and overall intelligence when it comes to the game of football.
But no one had seen it yet.
That was, until Friday night.
When Bush stepped onto the field at Heinz Field in Week 1 of the NFL Preseason, the anticipation was palpable. All eyes were glued on No. 55, and he didn’t disappoint. He registered 10 tackles and nearly had an interception returned for a touchdown. Not a bad start for a player who was perceived to be the weaker of the two ‘Devins’.
NFL Network analyst, and former NFL lineman, Brian Baldinger is a football junky, and loves breaking down film. He posts many of these breakdowns on his verified Twitter account, and one of the many he posted after Week 1 of the preseason was none other than Devin Bush.
Baldinger had nothing but positive marks for the former Wolverine, and provides some really good analysis to the performance of No. 55 in black-and-gold.
Check out the breakdown in the video below:
.@steelers @_Dbush11 #steelers @UMichFootball made a big splash at MLB v @Buccaneers playing 40 snaps and making 10-11-12 tackles. I lost track. He was everywhere. His lateral speed is a blur. Makes the Steelers defense look faster. #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/k4wxVqsnXE
