It may not be football that counts, but exhibition football is better than no football. The Pittsburgh Steelers are set to continue their 2019 preseason on Saturday night when Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, and the rest of the Kansas City Chiefs invade Heinz Field in Week 2.
This will be the last chance for Steelers fans to see their team at Heinz Field before the regular season kicks off in less than a month. Although most starters did not see the field in Week 1, Coach Mike Tomlin has already said more of the starters will be used in Week 2.
Ben Roethlisberger has been the only player indirectly ruled out for the game, as coach Tomlin did not say specifically he would not suit up but did not list him on the progression of the quarterback rotation. Mason Rudolph has been listed as the starter for the first time in a game at Heinz Field, followed by Joshua Dobbs and Devlin Hodges. Players such as Maurkice Pouncey and David DeCastro who have not practiced this will will also likely sit out, but others who are not nursing injuries are likely to see limited action. Can Devin Bush and Uylsees Gilbert III follow up their Week 1 performances with another strong showing? Can Justin Layne show marked improvement? Will Steelers fans finally get to see Dionte Johnson in stadium?
All of these questions will be answered throughout the rest of the team’s preseason. Get all the information you need so you can enjoy the Week 2 showdown below:
