The Pittsburgh Steelers have had over a week of training camp practices under their belt now, and while there are times it is still considered “football in shorts”, the team has had plenty of news coming from these workouts.

Tuesday’s practice marked the last time the Steelers likely don pads at practice before they play host to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Heinz Field this Friday night. Wednesday the team will practice, likely in shells, and then Thursday will be their walk-through before the game Friday night.

In other words, Tuesday’s practice was the last bit of hitting the Steelers will get in before they finally get to hit someone not wearing a black-and-gold uniform.

With that said, there was plenty of news coming from training camp, so let’s take a look at what went down.

Highlights of 11-on-11 play

The Steelers had plenty of 11-on-11 play during practice, and here were some highlights, for players like Benny Snell Jr., and lowlights, for players like Jerald Hawkins. Thanks to Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports for keeping fans informed as practice went on.

Two-Minute Drill

The Steelers didn’t just go 11-on-11, but finished practice with the ever famous 2-minute drill. Take a look at how quarterbacks Mason Rudolph and Devlin Hodges fared in this last minute situation.

Walking wounded update

The injuries continue to mount, but as stated the other day, there is no cause for concern...yet.

Seven Shots

For those scoring at home, this means the Steelers’ defense has won just one of these drills since the start of training camp. I’m not sure if this is more of a ringing endorsement for the offense, or poor performances by the defense. You be the judge...

Feiler gets a nice little pay day

A little known fact occurred for right tackle Matt Feiler. Due to him starting 10 games in 2018, he earned an extra $285,600 on his base salary. A nice little bump in pay for the man most are expecting to anchor the right side of the line in 2019.

JuJu and Santonio

Throughout training camp the Pittsburgh Steelers organization has had some of their alumni come back every day to meet and greet with fans, and to sign autographs. Most former players mingle with the team before and after practice, and on Tuesday it was Santonio Holmes sharing some pointers with JuJu Smith-Schuster after practice.
