Steelers 2020 NFL Draft Analysis: College game day and prospect watch

Another week of college football means another chance to get a glimpse of some prospects the Steelers might have their eyes on.

One last time...

The Pitt Panthers and the Penn State Nittany Lions are set to square off for the 100th meeting, and at the moment, one last time. The series has Penn State with a 52-43-4 advantage and winning the last 9 out the last 11 games.

Two things which stand out to me. One, the iconic Penn State uniforms, I love them. Two, the players that have played for these two schools, some of the greatest of all time to play at the next level and some currently playing are headed in that direction.

Some famous Pitt alumni:

Mike Ditka, Tony Dorset, Dan Marino, Larry Fitzgerald and Aaron Donald

Some famous Penn State alumni:

Franco Harris, Jack Ham, Mike Munchak and Saquon Barkley

Now let’s get to the game...

Prospects to Watch

Yetur Gross- Matos, Edge, No. 99 Penn State

In 2018, Gross-Matos made a living in the oppositions backfield registering 8 sacks and 20.5 tackles for loss. Outstanding length and has a non stop motor. Combines a decent first step along with a great burst to finish off plays. More than likely a 4-3 DE but he has some reps standing up as a rusher. One of my favorite players in the draft but may not fit our scheme, we’ll see.

To be honest, this week’s college game day schedule is pretty horrendous. When Pitt vs. Penn State is the marquee game it speaks volumes about the entire docket of games.
