Predicting the winner of Pittsburgh Steelers vs. Seattle Seahawks, Week 2

Predicting the winner of Steelers vs. Seahawks in Week 2 for the home opener at Heinz Field.

The Pittsburgh Steelers are in desperate need of a win. Not that their Week 2 game vs. the Seattle Seahawks is a must-win game, but after falling flat in Week 1 vs. the New England Patriots in Week 1, the Steelers need to get right.

Could the Seahawks be just the right elixir for what ails the Steelers?

I wouldn’t go that far, not as long as Russell Wilson is still the quarterback of the Seahawks. That man has a unique ability to always stay in the game, and pulling some incredible comebacks out of his back pocket.

It is Wilson’s ability, in my opinion, that makes picking the winner of this game difficult. But before I made my pick I asked Field Gulls editor Kenneth Arthur what he thought of the game. He was hardly specific with his prediction, but here is what he had to say about the game:

I don’t want to give too detailed of a prediction. I think the Seahawks stay close in this one but struggle and ultimately lose.

Seahawks fans have a reason to be pessimistic in this game. In two previous games at Heinz Field the Seahawks failed to score a point. That’s right, their only two games in Pittsburgh have been shut outs. On top of that, in the Russell Wilson era, the Seahawks are 1-10 on the road in the month of September.

But if you are like me, last week did plenty to give you pause when going all-in on the Steelers. Even at home. Even against the Seahawks. And even in their home opener.

Nonetheless, the latest line has the Steelers -3.5 and an OVER/UNDER of 46.5 points. I like the Steelers in this game, and I like them to cover the 3.5-point spread. To give you an exact score, I think the Steelers win 27-17, which would also have me betting the under in this game.
