The Steelers had nine different players miss practice time to some degree Wednesday due to injury or illness. With six players returning to full participation on Thursday, Joe Haden and Maurkice Pouncey didn’t return to practice until Friday hence why they each carried a questionable designation heading into Sunday. Both players stated on Friday they expected to play in Week 2.
Joining Nix on the inactive list are several players who will be on the list for two straight weeks. Not getting a helmet for Week 2 are rookies CB Justin Layne, DL Isaiah Buggs, TE Zach Gentry, and G Fred Johnson. Second-year OT Chukwuma Okorafor once again is on the inactive list as Zach Banner has surpassed him on the depth chart for the time being.
The final inactive spot goes to the Steelers’ newest member on the 53-man roster OLB Jayrone Elliott. Signed to the roster on Tuesday, Elliott returns after spending the final two preseason games with the Steelers before being released when the team cut the roster down to 53 players. Elliott previously spent three years in Green Bay from 2014-2016 before being traded to the Cowboys and then released in 20017.
As for the Seahawks, their inactives can be seen below. DE Ziggy Ansah is inactive again in Week 2 while TE Tyler Lockett will play.
