The Pittsburgh Steelers didn’t get the redemption they were looking for in Week 2. They were hoping to get the nasty taste out of their mouths from the Week 1 thrashing they received from the Patriots, instead they received a gut punch that was a 28-26 loss to the Seahawks in the team’s home opener.
To add to the loss, the Steelers suffered several key injuries, none greater than the elbow injury to quarterback Ben Roethlisberger. After the game head coach Mike Tomlin addressed the injuries of not just Roethlisberger, but also safety Sean Davis, James Conner and Vince Williams.
Tomlin said what was to be expected. Roethlisberger is having his elbow further evaluated, and Tomlin wouldn’t comment whether the injury was of the long-term or short-term variety. Likewise, he sang a similar tune regarding James Conner’s knee injury, which had him leave the game in the second half.
He also said Williams and Davis were dealing with injuries that the severity of those injuries are unknown at this time, but added Anthony Chickillo is suffering from Plantar Faciiatis. Here is a complete run down from Steelers.com’s Teresa Varley:
Coach Mike Tomlin on @steelers injuries:

Ben Roethlisberger elbow
Vince Williams - hamstring
James Conner - knee
Sean Davis - shoulder
Anthony Chickillo - plantar fasciitis
All are being evaluated.
Said injuries didn’t affect the outcome of the game.
Needless to say, the Steelers have plenty of key players who are dealing with injuries which could hinder them leading up to Week 3. If the aforementioned players can’t play, you can expect the following players to be in the lineup in their stead:
OUT: Ben Roethlisberger
IN: Mason Rudolph
OUT: James Conner
IN: Jaylen Samuels
OUT: Sean Davis
IN: Kam Kelly
OUT: Vince Williams
IN: Devin Bush
OUT: Anthony Chickillo
IN: Ola Adeniyi
Not an ideal situation when almost everyone would consider the Steelers’ Week 3 game in San Francisco vs. the 49ers about as much of a must-win as any Week 3 game could be.
Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the black-and-gold as they attempt to right the ship before heading cross country to California.
