It has been a crazy couple days for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Between losing Ben Roethlisberger for the season, the unknown of what Mason Rudolph will bring for the season, and the trade for DB Minkah Fitzpatrick, there are so many factors which make it difficult to project how the Steelers will perform on Sunday in San Francisco. Normally the biggest factor involved with the Steelers performance would be their travel to the West Coast. With all these brand new factors for Week 3, it makes for a very interesting betting situation.

When it comes to the betting lines for Sunday’s game, the following information is the current consensus spread and over/under for the Steelers this week as reported by oddsshark.com.

Game Info: Week 3

Pittsburgh Steelers vs. San Francisco 49ers

Sunday, September 22, 2019 at 4:25 PM

Betting line: +7

Over/under: 44

Last Regular Season Meeting: Steelers (W) 43-18 vs 49ers

Win streak: 1 game PIT

Last 3 Meetings: PIT 2 - SF

Last 10 Meetings: PIT 5 - 5 SF

The opening line on the game was EVEN when the schedule was released in April and remained steady throughout the preseason. Holding even in some places as late as Sunday night, when news of Ben Roethlisberger’s impending season-ending surgery broke, the line jumped to seven point in favor of San Francisco

Being the underdog on Sunday, the Steelers have a current moneyline of +250 to win the game straight up, which is the equivalent of 5/2 odds. So a $20 bet placed on the Steelers over the 49ers would have a payout of $70 ($50 plus the original $20 bet). The Seahawks have a current moneyline of -300, or 1/3 odds. Therefore the same $20 bet placed on San Francisco to win straight up would have a payout of $26.67 ($6.67 pus the original $20 bet) .

According to Oddsshark.com, the Steelers are 2-6 against the spread in their last eight games and the total has gone UNDER in six of their last nine games. The Steelers also are 9-3 straight up in their last 12 games against the NFC West and the total has gone UNDER in four of Pittsburgh’s last five games in San Francisco.

If looking at the futures bets, the Steelers have dropped from 28/1 odds to 100/1 odds to win the Super Bowl. They have also plummeted from 27/2 odds to win the AFC Championship to 23/1 odds, and 7/4 odds to win the AFC North has fallen to 7/1 odds. While all of the odds became much longer for the Steelers (meaning their chances decreased), they are now projected to place third the AFC North. Both Baltimore and Cleveland have better odds to win the division while Cincinnati is still the biggest long shot to win the AFC North.
