The Pittsburgh Steelers are now in an 0-2 after Week 2 of the 2019 regular season, but how they got to this record is the most concerning part. After a 33-3 drubbing by the defending champion New England Patriots, the Steelers followed it up with a close 28-26 loss to the Seattle Seahawks in Week 2 at Heinz Field. The loss was more than just another loss on the record, but the team lost Ben Roethlisberger in the process.
But before we get ahead of ourselves, it is that time of week where we check in on what other outlets are saying about the black-and-gold in those weekly Power Ranking articles. We all realize these rankings are completely meaningless, but they are great for discussion. Not just where the Steelers are ranked, but who made the Top 5 who should have, or shouldn’t have?

Pleasant surprise: Cornerback Steven Nelson. The defense has given up 61 points through the first two games, but that’s not because of Nelson, who wasn’t targeted in Week 1 and had two key pass breakups against Seattle. The team’s big free-agent signing on offense, Donte Moncrief, has failed miserably, but Nelson, who came from Kansas City on a three-year deal, has proved a nice addition to the Steelers’ secondary. -- Jeremy Fowler

They’re all gone now. Le’Veon Bell is in New York, Antonio Brown is in New England and now Ben Roethlisberger is on injured reserve after suffering an elbow injury on Sunday that will require season-ending surgery. It’s an absolute disaster scenario for Mike Tomlin’s team, 0-2 and suddenly in the precarious position of asking 2018 third-round pick Mason Rudolph to save the season. The silver lining here is that Rudolph played with confidence after replacing Roethlisberger against the Seahawks, throwing two touchdown passes to Vance McDonald and running the offense smoothly, which backs up his reputation as a diligent worker. Still, there’s no sugarcoating the situation here: Heading into Week 1, the Steelers felt like legitimate Super Bow lcontenders. After losing two games and their future Hall of Fame quarterback, the ceiling has been lowered considerably, even after their bold move to acquire Minkah Fitzpatrick from the Dolphins.

With Ben Roethlisberger gone for the season, their season is over. That’s not a knock on Mason Rudolph, but he can’t cure their ills like a healthy Roethlisberger can.
