Steelers Injury Report: Nix, Williams, and Chickillo all ruled out against the 49ers on Sunday

After Friday’s practice, it seems all questions in regard to injuries have been answered. The only three players listed on the Steelers’ status report for Sunday’s games are Roosevelt Nix, Vince Williams, and Anthony Chickillo, all who have been ruled OUT for the game according to the Steelers PR Department.

With Williams ruled out for the game on Sunday, 2019 first round draft pick Devin Bush will look to get the start at inside linebacker alongside 2019 free agent acquisition Mark Barron. With Vince Williams exiting the game early in Week 2, Barron saw 100% of the snaps on defense while Bush was on the field for 79%.

Another player missing time on defense is OLB Anthony Chickillo. Although he was the primary reserve, Chickillo saw significant snaps in both the Steelers games in 2019. Olasunkanmi Adeniyi looks to step into Chickillo’s role with the possibility of Jayrone Elliott taking some snaps as well. Luckily, Bud Dupree practiced fully on Friday after being limited on Thursday with an ankle. Dupree does not carry an injury status so he looks to be fine as a team travels to San Francisco.

Roosevelt Nix will miss his consecutive game. It is on sure how many more games Nix could need before his knee will be ready for action. In formations using a full back during Week 2, Xavier Grimble stepped in to handle the blocking duties.

As expected, Joe Haden was a full participant Friday and says his shoulder feels better than it did last week when he was still able to play 100% of the defensive snaps.

As for the 49ers’ status report, RB Tevin Coleman (ankle) and T Joe Staley (fibula) are out while DE Dee Ford (quad) and DE Nick Bosa (ankle) are both questionable after being limited in practice Friday according to the injury report on Steelers.com.
